156 2.4 jtd starting problems
Hi I have a very annoying starting issue, the car has always started first time in all weathers until now.
The problem is intermittant, I have started leaving the car on a hill, but it can go a week without a problem, then when you happen to not be on a hill and you really need it to go it wont start.
The engine is turning in such a way that you would expect it to start it just does not.
Even a jump from another vehicle wont start it.
However if it is towed or run down a hill it will start first time every time.
There is no issue once the car is going.
There does not seem to be any particular situation where it starts or does not, e.g it decided not to start after a 130 mile run and started fine after being left sitting for 4 days.
My mechanic thinks it is possibly a 'lazy' starter motor, there being a minimum number of revs needed before the ecu will allow the car to start, anyone got any ideas? its driving me nuts. Short of any other suggestions I will probably have the starter motor replaced. The battery is less than a year old and it has been tested and declared ok.
