... your opinion?
Recently, with plenty of headache and then some and still some remaining
... I have had my faulty JTS engine replaced under warranty (which has now expired) with a new one. I have been advised by people in-the-know to replace the engine oil and filter after 1,000 miles. I'm not disputing this advise but wondered if anyone disagrees
The MAIN dealer don't advise anything of the kind
In short the following questions also come to mind:-
1) Why 1,000 miles and not 2,000 or something else? Also, should this be mostly motorways ie low rev constant... or in town town ie varied rev speeds... probably makes no difference.
2) No idea what oil they used but I'm going to use full-synth 10w60, which I think is right for the JTS.
3) Anything else worth considering? I have been easy(ish) with the new engine... and I now hope I can use the full rev range a little more. Bad idea still... or should be okay? ... and no - I don't drive like a nutter and hit the limiter every time... I'm just a bit fed up being so cautious due to all the trouble I have had recently.
Any advice would be appreciated
Just as an aside, which some of you may know or not know. When I inspected the engine bay, I noticed the dipstick and plastic (crappy) engine cover was from the old engine. Apparently they use the old bits where they can, but I have been told the belts etc are not re-used
Thought that might do with a mention.
