Waxoyl protection

After getting all of my 147 faults sorted I am going to try to keep this car for a few years!

What is the rust protection on this car like? Is it worth injecting waxoyl into the sill and wheel arches (if so, how?) Is it also worth waxoyling the underneath of the car? If I was to do this, is it just a case of putting onto axle stands and jet-spraying the underneath, leave to dry a day or two, then waxoyl away?

Or, is it well enough protected not to worry about rust?

Re: Waxoyl protection

IMHO those sort of rust 'preventative' measures are often worse than doing nothing. They tend to block up factory engineered drain holes and if any treated area is compromised can retain moisture and mask the onset of rust. I have driven my car through a causeway (creek crossing) everyday for more than 4 years and it has no rust whatsoever. Don't worry , be happy!!

You certainly don't have to worry about rust.

Re: Waxoyl protection

The quality of steel used to be so bad, Alfasuds would actually come out of the factory rusting!

No problem now though, as good as any other car. They are galvanised and protective undercoats are electrosatically applied before the final paint coats.
