When do you check oil? (147)

My 147 loves oil, and no matter what the dipstick always seems dry... even after adding a few litres.

When is the time to check? Cold engine? Warm? Hot?

Alfa says the engine is fine at is normal to eat oil!!!

Re: When do you check oil? (147)

Check it with the engine cold with the "Max" & "Min" marks facing the engine.
Do not twist the dipstick.

It should ALWAYS be filled to the "Max" mark...

Max-Min is about 1L and it takes 4.4L in total.

If there is still no oil on the dipstick... you were VERY low and haven't put enough in yet...

Re: When do you check oil? (147)

Hmmm, FWIW I check mine each Sunday after a short drive round the block. I can't check on the driveway as its about a 40 degree slope (and the garage is full of junk). The engine seems warm but not too hot. I reckon that mine is using about 100ml each week, which seems very little after what some report.
