Too gutted for words :'(
After getting my old girl fixed up to pass her MOT a few months back i am now faced with saying goodbye again.
Think the head gasket has gone but i am a little confused and could do with bowing down to the wisdom on here!
Checked my oil and water the day before it happened. Oil fine, water seemed ok level wise but had a slight glimmer of browny-green thinking back (as it was dark)
Drove to pick something up 5 miles away, no probs with temp.
Got there, they asked if the wet trail on the ground was me -i wasn't sure and hung underneath but no dripping.
Back on the road, few miles later on mway temp still showing ok but lost power and a rattling when accelerating. Then steam coming from under bonnet and burning smell.
Pulled over, took keys and ran for my life! Hid in undergrowth 20yds or so away as though was going to set on fire!
Called RAC who said head gasket and towed me home.
Now, my questions (please!!):
Whole coolant tank full of sludge and the hose had blown off the engine at bottom BUT no issues with the oil being sludgy. Is this fuel/oil mix being ejected under pressure but not coming back into block?
I now want to sell her as we only need one car so can i try draining coolant, cleaning the tank and putting wynns engine stop in to see if stops leak?
All help appreciated as usual, any locals who could help in soton??
Cheers in advance!! Karen
