156 2.0 TS Selespeed, no gears, stalls
This is a follow up to a post I wrote a while back about not having a reverse gear on my Selespeed. I adjusted the clutch rod back from 31.26mm to 27.89 (worn clutch?!) and ran the EOL calibration but it made no difference to the lack of reverse gear (car also wouldn't go into N). I removed the gearbox endplate for inspection (no sign of wear/damage/swarf, etc), checked the sensors in the front of the gearbox (again nothing), readjusted the clutch rod position to 28.01mm (using AlfaDiag), and put it all together again.
I then sat in the car with the ignition turned to MAR, and no gears can be selected. I tried running the EOL calibration on AlfaDiag a few times, but there was always an error message and it would not complete, and the dashboard gearbox light began flashing.
The car starts fine, but then I can hear it put itself into gear (though still reading N on the display) and it then stalls. There was an error message 'Engine speed sensor failure'. Is there a disengage problem?
Any ideas what else I could do? I don't think it would be worth having a new gearbox/rebuild and a clutch at this stage, as I tried selling the car a few months ago for £750 and had NO interest, despite it being in excellent nick otherwise, so it's life hangs in the balance!
