more problems with start-up on 147 1.9 jtd lusso
I've just bought a 25 month old diesel 147, and have a question about start-up because the manual is confusing me on this point!
When I put my key into the MAR position, the computer screen says "ACTIVE CHECK" then the glowplug light goes out, and it moves on to the next screen which says "WARNING: WATER IN DIESEL FUEL FILTER" and beeps at me twice, this screen clears after about 2-3 seconds, and moves on to a screen showing the oil level, which then moves on to the base screen showing time and date etc. From here I can start the car and it starts fine.
Is the car meant to show the FUEL FILTER message at this point as part of the pre-start-up check (ie: it's checking for water at this point), or is this a valid error message which I need to refer to the dealer? The manual flow diagram for pre-start-up checks doesn't mention this screen flashing up briefly at this point, the manual only mentions it coming up "when running".
If I switch off moving the key to the lowest position, but do not remove the key, and then move it back to the MAR position, it does not show me the "FUEL FILTER" message during the check.
If I remove the key and put it back in again, and move the key to the MAR position then it does.
Am I going mad, or is this is what it is meant to do?
Thanks in advance
This morning the ASR and ABS warnings both popped up on screen (along with the associated warning lights being lit up) for a few seconds each when I moved on from the above step and actually started the engine. The warning lights and the message on screen went off after 2 seconds. I switched off, removed the key, and tried again, and still got both messages.
My brakes were then very squeaky too as I reversed out of my drive - my drive slopes upwards, and my car is parked with the bonnet facing up.
When I arrived at work, brakes didn't squeak, tested start up again, and didn't get any error messages at all (not even the water one)
Any ideas? Could it be an indication of a battery on the way out?

Reason: more warning lights
