Re: Used Alfa GT buying guide
Chis, I've had my Gt (1.9JTD) 8 months now and can report that the car is as robust as you can get, the oil burner is almost unbustable. Things which have been reported on here though, are :-
Doors and tailgate: Leading edge of doors just catching the trailing edge of the wings as you open the doors. Almost imperceptible - try placing a piece of paper in between door and wing and open the door - it will catch the paper!
Tailgate: Same; where tailgate meets roof.
Aircon draining into passenger side. Check for condensation/damp under footwell mat. This one is dead easy to fix - dealer will sort in jiffy.
Various squeaks and rattles but nowt to write home about. These generally turn out to be and items not secured properly such as ski-hatch flap and rear seat bench which hasn't been pushed back into it's catch firmly enough.
Check 3rd year warranty is valid as imported cars only have Alfa factory two year warranty (3rd year is an Alfa UK add on).
As i said earlier the car is finished to a very high standard with quality materials. Any probs you are likely to encounter will be "gum chewing" dealer related.
