Is my 156 a bargain!!??
A week before Xmas I was browsing Ebay and ended up the winning bidder on a 156. It was listed with a few faults as follows: short MOT (2 weeks left) ABS light on, N/S front suspension squeaking and remote button not working on the key. It's a late 99, V reg in black, 1.8. Has Momo leather in sandy colour, elec sunroof, elec front windows, alloys, elec mirrors, Pipercross induction kit and although it's done 142000 miles it has FSH and a bill for £1200 for an engine rebuild 14,000 miles ago. It still drives very well and the interior/exterior are immaculate. It paid £1130 for it and I must admit I thought I would end up spending out a lot more on it, with an MOT a couple of weeks away and a glowing ABS light it didn't look good. Once I'd collected the car and driven it to Bedfordshire from Durham (220 miles) without any hiccups I was gaining confidence in it. I took it to Alfatech Racing in Luton (very helpful guys) and they plugged in the diagnostic machine which told me that the ABS fault was with the front right sensor.Replaced this and the light went out - cool! |Took it for an MOT and...it went straight through and needed NOTHING! I've just done an oil/filter change and will do a cambelt/tensioner etc too, just for peace of mind but the car now stands me at £1250, I (and everyone else that's seen it) think it's a bargain, is it??????
