Can anyone verify that the 15" wheel fits in the spare wheel compartment?
Yes it does as I have got one in there. Its a elegant 15 inch with 195 tyre fitted. The reason for me fitting one was due to the fact I do a lot of towing and even at 50MPH I would dread to think how a space aver would perform on the rear of the car with stability or on the front for traction.
As I say, I have one, an alloy to match my 16's. I would still be restricted to 50 by law though as the overall difference between a 15 and 16 inch wheel are still different.
You do need to do a few mods though. The wheel does fit, but the tools don't. You need to take the tools and space saver out, put some songe in the well (to stop the tools from rattling), turn the tools upside down and place in the well. Then get the spare and place it face up. It will be unsecured, but it should be fine - I have never had a problem when braking very hard. You now need some 1-2 inch thick foam to cut around the wheel well and place it in the boot. This is to raise the floor up in the boot, as the 195 tyre width comes up higher than the well height. You can reduce this problem if you get a 185 tyre if you wish.
I have probably confused you now, but I'll try and post some pics to illustrate it to you, once its stopped snowing here that is!
