Re: How much is it worth?
Not much eye candy in the new golf though, to be honest when it first came out I thought it looked a lot like the 307. If it's based on the same platform as Audi's A3 then it will handle VERY well, my girlfriend has a 2.0 TDi and that feels incredibly rigid on the road and doesn't make a sound even over the most atrocious potholed backroads in Yorkshire.
It also feels very stable at high speeds....um 130ish... maybe...theoretically!!!
Only thing I don't like about the Audi and this probably goes for the VDub too is that the steering was awfully sluggish compared to my 147. I always catch myself understeering like nobodies business through quite hairy corners, takes some getting used to.
This platform does give a nice drive, very refined and with good performance... but IMHO it's all too easy to just drive on autopilot in that environment and not actually feel passionate about the car.
However, this doesn't answer your question, if the car is as good as your say it's worth about 6K although at Christmas time people don't have the money to spend on cars.
It's a good time to buy as dealerships are hit hard so will reduce prices to make a sale, probably why your asking this question now to be honest, but you'll lose money on your car to sell it quickly. Only person here who makes money is the dealer if you trade it for the quick deal in the sales.
