The Rough and the Smooth

I've been in the doldrums of Alfa ownership for a little while, my GT has cost a fair bit lately, with new problems cropping up frequently. Gtv also requires a fair bit of spending.

Anyhow, the rough to which I refer is what I see as being Royally shafted for the fitting of two upper front wishbones at a price of 250. At the same time the Alfa specialist pointed out yet more work that needs doing. That privilidge came from the local independent Alfa/fiat place near to me. Having read not too many positive references, I'm not quite sure why I ended up there, however I agreed to the work/price, so that was no-one's fault but my own.

The smooth to which I refer is upon having done lots of googling and thread reading, I discover that an ex forum member (banned), who by all accounts knows his onions alfawise just so happens to live 2 miles from me.....

Said chap came over to my house last night after doing a full days work elsewhere and astounded me with his knowledge on the GT, by the light of a mobile phone, quickly identified what ACTUALLY needs doing and what DOESN'T need doing. At the same time pointing out minor trouble spots ie stuff put back wrongly by others in the past, which he rectified as he was talking.

Now, having got him booked in to sort out my GT next week, followed by some stuff on my gf's fiat and then more work on my Gtv, I am pleased to say I have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. My good fortune to be living where I am living and that there are indeed good guys out there, if you can hunt them out. For the first batch of work, said chap gave me a price last night, which I thought meant for the parts - only to be told that was the whole, fitted price. I'm now looking forward to the relaxation that will come from knowing that my motors have been fettled by someone who knows what they are doing and is not going to try and shaft me.

Props too, while I'm in such a positive mood of course to this forum, which led me to where I am now and has also solved lots of niggly little issues along the way....
