Madness 156 ABS problems

My ABS light has come on so i took the car down a quiet road and tested the brakes heavily...the ABS is not working. Pulled the big fuse in the engine bay and also pulled off the big multiplug on the ABS unit attached to the bulkhead and reconnected both hoping it may have been a loose connection or something but the light still glows and still no ABS working. What can I try next??

Re: 156 ABS problems

on my previous 156 driving in slush and snow would sometimes cover the sensor causing a temporary failure (warning plus no abs) this would usually right itself in a few days, have you driven through any mud, could give a similar but stickier problem.

Thumbs Up Re: 156 ABS problems

Well I've found the problem. O/S front wiring to the sensor has been rubbing on something and has worn completely through, causing the wires to break - that'll explain it then!!! I'm hoping I can get away with re-joining and crimping the wires but failing that it will be new sensor time (about 50) and then maybe a reset!?
