I've got a 1.8 and it shows 175 BHP on dyno !!!
BTW, I didn't follow that one on the C&B Fast Road II inlet cam loosing his lobes after 7000 KM ?
Why? Shouldn't they last as lomg as other cams?
ATM i have bigger problems then the steering wheel! That guy also sold me a pair of wrong suspension uprights.. So far 10 garage hrs wasted..we can't even find the parts he sold me in ePER..
About the power, i know of 3 other 2.0 fitted with same setup as mine, and all have the same power, give or take 3 bhp..They were all measured at the same dyno even.
If you have 175 bhp, then just be happy about it
Maybe for your own cross reference have it measured at another dyno. I attented a dyno run not far from where i live, and that dyno was every boy racers dream..i had 189bhp on it! hehe...all other cars had lots of extra power too, so it showed about 6-7% too much..They even admitted the results "probably was a little optimistic" But it still looks good on paper!
175 bhp is not impossible on a 1-8 though.. i believe the rev limiter is set to 7500-7600 with a remap on a 1.8, so this alone brings 7-8 bhp more..
the 177'ish bhp the 2.0 has, is at 7100 Rpm. if we moved the relimiter to 7400, it would probably give another 8 bhp..(and bent valves!)
The inlet cam i have been given by mistake was not a fast road 2 cam, but a special GTV racing cam not meant for street use. Only reason it would even work on my engine in the frst place, was because i had such a free flowing exhaust and good air intake system, and the fact that the remap guy was able to save the idle. There is a thread on the whole affair here. Search for "11 bhp gone where are they"
