Suspension creaking badly / Garage
All, took my car into the an independent garage in NW london for:
1. Suspension - front suspension is creaking very loudly even over minor bumps; additionally, there appears to be quieter creaking from from the front and rear. (Polyflex bushes and Bilstein shocks from EB Spares and anti-roll bar drop links were fitted in March 2005.)
2. Brakes - very soft pedal feel and low braking efficiency; at low speed the pedal goes long on occasions with very low braking pressure and ABS kicks in; please change brake fluid check/report on condition of pads/discs.
3. Car horn - the spring mechanism on the horn has stopped working causing the horn to be sounded whilst driving - a plastic washer was fitted in the horn in place of a spring by another garage to prevent this (to avoid having to buy a new steering wheel) but has become dislodged. The horn has been disconnected. Please advise on options.
4. Engine - rough idling; when coming to a halt, the revs drop too low causing the car to stop abruptly (and then rise to compensate) and possibly leading to the loss of braking pressure in 2 above.
Status is that they can't find any problem with suspension - "all looks ok, might be the polyflex bushes" - I said bollo**** to that, polyflex wouldn't have a dam* business if their bushes sounded like that ... what do I do? I proposed that they come up with a proposal in the event that a change of the bushes to standard Alfa ones doesn't work ... no news yet.
Bloke also said it would take 3 hours to change steering wheel - I told him that I knew it took a few minutes to take it off as I've seen it done - estimate down to 1 hour ...
I am sick to my back teeth of this f******* car and the bull**** dealers ...
Gonna lease a car next time ...
