OK, so the attached pics show the story.
New bit waiting to be fitted, half the car stripped apart to fit it (well, felt like half the car!) new pipe mated up to turbo for the first time, starting to reassemble and finally my quality bodge
It was a voyage of discovery, the airbox is a pig to get out of the car. I removed it as I wanted to clean both the airbox and the MAF whilst I changed the turbo pipe.
I was unamused to find (once the airbox was out) that the old turbo pipe was loose, it had not been secured to the turbo fully and that can only
have happened at the dealer. I assumed these things were supposed
to be airtight to the turbo. Maybe the folks at my dealer know better......
Anyway, it all went back together as it should (airbox was a pig, did I mention that at all?) and it started first turn of the key. Which is nice.
The trip home (14 miles from where I worked on the car) was uneventful, car seemed smooth, no juddering and not much wooshing from under the bonnet either.
Is it fixed?
Well, let's not get carried away eh
