Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Inner CV help

I finally got round to fitting my ebay bargain (60!) alloys and discovered my N/S inner CV boot was ripped. I've disconnected the shaft from where it enters the gearbox by removing the six bolts but I can't see this the circlip to pop it off.

I did some searching on here and found this in a post:

"Thanks chaps, went out to the garage tonight about 9pm and took the end plate off the inner CV joint. The end cap to the CV joint is like a close fitting jam jar lid without the screw and it is simply knocked off carefully with a drift and a hammer.

This info came courtesy of Gazza82 - thanks!"

Does anyone have any pictures of how this works, before I damage my joint?

The end of the cv joint where you unbolted it from the diff has a steel cover on it - just knock it off as described above and underneath should be a smallish circlip, usually buried in cv joint grease. Once you remove the circlip from the shaft the cv joint should slide off.

Assuming the driveshaft you're dealing with is of this type - maybe 20v ones are different?
