Immobiliser problems

I have just sorted out a cam belt on the 147 and now when i go to switch on - there are imobiliser code warnings !

Tried all the keys but nothing works - i guess it needs re-coding !

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Immobiliser problems

I mate, welcome. Can't you start the engine at all? I hope you have the code card so you can insert it manually...

Re: Immobiliser problems

How do you insert the code manually? chould you be inserting both the mechanical & electrical code? I want to replace the battery of my 147, but need to know how to insert the code afterwards for the car to be able to start again. My car manual does not give any instructions on inserting the code. Thanks in advance

Re: Immobiliser problems

I had a similar problem on my 156 - code light stayed on meaning the car would turn-over but wouldn't fire. Persevering with turning it on, leaving it for a while then trying, fixed it and my problem was intermitent so let it go for about a year before it finally gave up properly (strangely it didn't get more frequent or anything it just played-up one day and simply wouldn't start).

It needed a new ignition ECU which was about £300 if memory serves.

Another sympton with this would be the airbag warning light staying on as the ignition ECU is connected to this.

Re: Immobiliser problems

Check the imobiliser antenna has not moved out of place. Its around the ignition switch. Some people claim to have cured similar problems by disconnecting the battery for a short time.
