No no no, you've misinterpreted my statement. Alfa have selected whatever pad material and manufacturer for a reason. Trust me, I've just spent over two years working in the brakes departmant of a major car companyas a product development engineer. They don't just choose a pad in a 30 second decision, it takes fecking years to get it right!!! They will have tested many many different pad materials to find the one that fits the right criteria.
If you don't use original Alfa Romeo pads (be they from Jurid, TRW, Brembo, Conti-Teves, Wabco, whoever) then you're fitting non-standard parts to your car and that will invalidate your warranty.
I wasn't referring to who carries out the change (tho it must be a VAT registered garage AFAIK), just the pads that you fit.
