Another thermostat query
Sorry about bringing up another thread on the thermostat issue with the 156, but its been just over a month now since I realised that the car was running on the cold side but I just haven't had the time to sort it out yet. Now that the weather is turning cold I have the time to get it sorted one of these weekends, but I just want to make 100% sure its the t/stat.
WHen I start the car from cold, it goes up to about 78/79deg on the gauge after a few min, then drops to about 67deg almost immediately and then settles at the 70deg for the rest of the journey. Are these the symptoms others have experienced on thier t/stat sticking open?
I would have thought and by know means to I claim to be an expert, but it looks to me like the t/stat is working just by the fact that the temp rose up above the eventual resting point...???
Could it be the temp sender is just showing the temp about 18deg less than it should be?
Also, I've downloaded gazza's t/stat replacement file as I'm thinking of doing the job myself. Does the coolant system need to be bled after you refill? How is this done if needed?
