Surly that is gonna result in a slight leap in Fuel consumption.
So think ill just continue the Supersprint up to the Manifold and then Air filter....So whats the most effective Air induction to go for.?
And obviously i dont want it sound like a kev machine like the K&N's tend to do,But i want something thats gonna actually help the performace along Throttle response...and that..
See Sum1 else has posted another 147 gearbox problem thread.
Its such a great car and that gearbox can be a total cow.
Gnna go up to the dealer tomoz..mayaswell have this bonnet checked out so im gonna throw them the question "Is the gearbox supposed to be crap"?
Whats a Kev machine?
I dont know where you got the idea over only KnN filters from?
Any induction kit will give an increase in noise(howling noise) to the engine.Whether its a KnN,Green Cotton,Pipercross,BMC etc etc.
Most air filters or induction kits will give around 4-7 bhp or there abouts.Theres nothing wrong with the induction filters. All this crap talk about the oil from the induction kits breaking the MAF is just that, crap.
You will actually pick up power/throttle response if you take the filter and wash it out with warm water. The oil actually blocks the pours in the filter mesh.So you dont get the full air flow potential from the filter itself. It doesnt do anything else, like wrecking the MAF.Clean the oil film off the filter, let the filter dry near a radiator for a day, then install it on the car.It will then be better for the car, than it was before.
The most cost effective solution is to put a better/free flow panel filter into the standard air box,and then drill some 10mm holes onto the sides of the box itself. Its a well known trick and its just as good as one of those carbon induction kits.It lets the engine breath much better, and increases throttle performance too.
A complete exhaust system(manifold, decat pipe, centre pipe and back box) will be very expensive and will only get you about 10bhp maximum. You would be better to get the remap. The remap actually does not raise the fuel consumption,in most cases it actually makes the car more fuel efficient and still will give you about 10bhp more for a few hundread quid.
But just dont be expecting big power gains or miracles from this sort of tuning upgrades, because you wont get it.Best of luck.
