Darned windscreen washers jets

Each one of the 4 jets on each side was spraying in different directions. Cleaning people on the streets the roof and cars behond me - everywhere apart from the screen unless I was doing 70mph.

I tried to clean out adjust etc with no luck so I replaced them. 4 months on, the "bleeps" are doing it again.

Considering I'm obsesed with keeping my windscreen clean it's driving me nuts.

Any tips??

Re: Darned windscreen washers jets

I was going to start exactly the same thread this morning.

It sometimes seems like my washer jets have a will of their own. I often play a little game on the way into work, and try to guess where the water will hit next . Today, the near-side jet is giving the car cyclist next to me a shower, and the off-side one is cleaning the seal at the bottom of the windscreen .

I once spent 15 minutes at the weekend carefully adjusting both jets to the perfect position, after which I became obsessive about not touching them at all, or allowing anything anywhere near them. They lasted all of two days before they decided that the roof was dirty and needed a wash .

Personally, I have given up. If the windscreen needs a wash, I now wind down the window and throw the dregs of my morning coffee on it

Do you fill the tank just with water or do u use special liquids ? There are some liquids that do not allow salt creation around the jets.

Try and avoid running your windscreen washer dry as the crud then gets in the nozzles and affects direction.

On mine if your careful you can remove the nozzle holder, rotate the actual nozzle 180 degrees so it is facing back and flusdh it through backwards. It removes partial obstructions that either block or cause the jet to go awry.

Re: Darned windscreen washers jets

My nearside jet has been feeble for ages with one spray hitting the wiper arm and the other three cleaning the lower windscreen rubber - then today, hurray!, all four suddenly started to work perfectly.

There is four!!! I was convinced until this thread that there were only three! Mind you in our area we have particularly chalky water.
