I know that there are some here saying it's an easy job,but how easy really depends on how much on an complete GTA engine you will be installing.
If you get a complete engine with all the pheriphials, then there is a number of differences you have to work around. Things like Fuel lines, aircondition, oil cooling, engine cooling. Basically a lot of rerouting of hoses and wiring. You can use your stock ECU and wiring looms, but you will need a remap. A Unichip or piggyback is not entirely needed if the garage knows how to remap. All of this takes time and costs money, so to say it's a simple job is not always the case.
In any case you need to add an oil cooler with a 3.2 engine, And you really need the GTA clutch and Gearbox with the engine.
I am currently running 273 Bhp 314Nm on a more or less stock GTA engine in a 2.5 body. My first advise for additional mod would be a LSD. Even before brakes, suspension or whatever.. get a LSD.. My reasoning behind this, is that i have tried another 2.5 with GTA engine, and forgive me if this offends others.. but when pushed, it was just not even close to being in the same league as my own. A 2.5 has different steering and suspension Geomerty from a GTA, and 90% of the 2.5 out there have no Traction Control system or ASR(only from mid 2002 and on) It's basically not a fun car to drive on the edge unless you get some aid to control all the new power.. The LSD makes all the difference here. And you will soon enough sav the cost of an LSD on longer lasting tyres
