Very interesting. This is probably too much "scatter" light being emitted "above" the cut off.
You can only change the pattern twisting off the big cover at the back of the headlight and "fiddling" with the bulb in its sockey. (Its held in by two spring clips.)
My first 156 was fine. My second was apalling. I had to point the car at a wall, turn the lights on and "jiggle" the bulbs in and out and around in their socket to get a decent beam pattern.
I can still see "scatter" above the cut off line and my first MOT is in a fortnight , so we'll have to see how I get on then!
