My 156 20v JTD is my first Alfa diesel. After purchasing it, I did a little research, and probably should have done it "prior" to buying it! But I did find out that the engine is Fiat's, the gear box belongs to GM - therefore a "Vauxhall" effort, and the drive shafts belong to Peugeot! Hence why all the 20v owners refer to them as "CHOCOLATE" shafts because they are shi...not very strong?!
Maybe, just maybe, parts are cheaper if we go to Vauxhall rather than Fiat/Alfa if they're the same engines?! But then again, I'd rather not be seen in a Vauxhall dealership with my Alfa.
And going back to Golfs using Fiat diesel engines, does that mean that Audi, Skoda, and Seat will use Fiat diesel engines too??? My cousin has an Audi A3 2.0 TDi 170 bhp remapped to 200 bhp, and I know how GOOD the car is. But is he Fiat powered???
