2.0 JTS rebuild, any tips or pointers before i start
So im pretty confident that my piston rings have gone, and i plan to replace them in the next couple of weeks.
Most of the specialist tools (cams locks etc) are coming from Totally Alfa and the parts from Alfa workshop. I'm reasonably confident i can do the job, and have booked the week off work so i can really take my time, and fix any nasty surprises.
What i was hoping for is some advice on any especially fiddly or annoying bits to look out for.
My plan is:
Day 1 - car up on ramps, remove exhaust, sump and head
Day 2 - remove pistons and replace rings and bearing shells
Day 3 - Refit pistons, sump and exhaust then roll the car off the ramps so the engine bay is easier to get to.
Day 4 - refit head
Day 5 - refit cambelt and auxilliary belt
I'd love to rebuild the head whilst it's off, but my budget just won't strech (unless it's an absolute horror).
So i've allowed plenty of time for things to go wrong, but any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated, as i'm more than a little nervous.
