I have 15mm spacers fitted on 17" Speedlines with 215 Dunlop Sportmaxx RT's on the front and some super hard Kwik Fit own brand Arrowspeed crap on the rear. None of the wheels rub even on Eibach Pro Kit springs because Dunlops have a hard sidewall and I run them at higher pressures than usual (3 bar and 2.8 bar).

You'll notice that the wider track adds quite a bit of cornering stability and grip. It will also add more negative camber to the front wheels and will even lower the ride height by 5-10mm because the suspension will sit at a different angle. The result is worthwhile but you will end up with more inner edge wear on your tyres. Thats the price of running racing car mods on the road. Mine have still run 12,000 miles though and as long as I can afford new ones when the MOT is due, it will have been worth every penny.
