Just got the car back from seeing Robbie, took some pics of Robbie and Emmet stripping the car from the underneath to take out the sh*t old gear stick and cables.
This is a ***** of a job and time consuming, exhaust has to come off, then the tunnel and heat shield, then the entire hand brake and gear stick mechanisms and housings. Also the sub frame has to be dropped to connect the new gear shift cables to the gearbox. All this just to drop out the old gear stick.
It has to be done unfortunately.
If you think that you can do this in your side garage with axle stands and a trolley jack, then think again. You really need to hoist the car above your head and have 2 people working on this.
Anyway heres the pics of the underneath of the car.Robbie modified a new gear stick housing to accomodate the shortshifter.
Also the new gear stick is 55mm shorter than the standard 147 stick.Enjoy the pics.
And a very big THANKYOU to Robbie and Emmet for working their ars*s off till 9pm and getting my car ready to travel to London. Thanks guys.
P.S - Forgot to take a pic of the short shifter itself as I was asked to help hold up the gear stick and handbrake mounting plate so that it could be bolted back onto the underneath of the car.SORRY.
The gear change is now much faster and slicker and has 30% less gear stick throw in it.Better/faster acceleration and quicker gear changes now for me.
1-Emmet trying out the old sh*t gear stick.
2-Car up on hoist again.
3-Straight through 65mm exhaust system(no cats or silencers)
4-Exhaust ripped off and thrown on the ground.
