Making a return. Advice please!

Hi, not been around for about 3 years since I sold my lovely 156 1.6 twinny for a 2008 Leon TDI. Anyway the Leon's been great but the arrival of our first child has meant that my wife needs a bigger car and she is getting the I can get a 156 back!

Want a little more poke than my last one so been looking at 1.8's and JTS's.

Found a lovely JTS in the colour and spec I want for the price I want. Quiet suspension, cambelt done 500 miles ago. MOT'd.....ticks all the boxes.

Anyway the problem.....the engine management light comes on intermittently. Now I clearly don't want to be buying a car with faults but I'm not sure its a big issue.

The owner said Alfa Diagnostics showed a potentiometer fault so he had it replaced but the light still came on some times,

Am I correct in thinking that an ECU reset could do the trick. Or as the fault is intermittent it could just be loose wiring that needs a solder?

Opinions welcome!

My guess would be that it's a bad connection.

get a busso
you might want to wait and get some comments on the jts they do seem to have a couple of expensive probs over the standard twinnie ? Mainly injectors but see what others say .
Second make sure whatever it is its put right before you part with your cash or at least get someone who knows to check it out

From what Ive read the JTS is a worse engine than the Twin Spark

The 2.0 JTS is the Twinspark bottom end with a new head and injection fuel system.
So a mixture of the both.

Its worth noting that some JTS engines are very much down on power stock from factory.

Better off with the actual TS or Diesel or Busso variants.
Not that there's anything wrong with the JTS but they seem to have added fuel managment issues.

Thanks guys.

I've read a lot on here about the JTS and the TS does seem to be less troublesome. Can't get a 2.0 twinny in the age I want so looking like a 1.8.

Anyway couldn't bring myself to buy a car with a fault (even thought it was stunning - vivid blue and cream leather) so the search continues.

A diesel is a no no as we already have the Leon diesel. Its a cracking car and quick but not much fun. Also the second car in the family won't do the miles to justify it.

Love this forum cheers guys, hopefully I'll have another Alfa soon and I'll be back!
