Help Rust spots?

Wondered if anyone had experience of dealing with rust spots.

I have 3 on the roof about the size of a 5p piece where the last owner hasn't bothered to touch in stonechips .

The paints a bit bubbled but not too bad. I am a bit of an amateur at car diy but is there an easy tratment or product I can use to remove this and then I assume i have to reprime and touch in the paint. Its flat Rosso red (no metalics) so I assume this makes it slightly easier?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rust spots?

Would having a SMART repair be suitable for this? The paint will be blended in a lot better, especially as it's a non-metallic, cost ya maybe a couple of hundred??

Re: Rust spots?

I have some on my roof, I asked Alfa to look at them under warrentee and they said ... 'sorry sir, that area of the car is not covered' ... My reply was, 'what the roof isn't covered' and they replied 'any area that could get hit by stones, Alfa UK will put the rust down to that rather then defect, the roof is one of those areas as is the bonnet and wings'

So I dont think Alfa will help you out but it could be worth a try.

I was quoted 140 from a local guy who could remove all rust and respray the areas.

Thumbs Up Re: Rust spots?

Congratulations - It's not a proper alfa 'til it's got some character rust.

As for the best way of dealing with it ....... let me know if you find out.

Of some reason the roof isn't galvanized.

Re: Rust spots?

From my understanding if a car manufacturer gives an anti corrosion warranty this covers the entire car.
Usually there are plan pictures in the service book showing all sides of the car. A check should be carried out at servicing times and a note made by the garage as to the condition and a signature put in the book.
Stone chips are one thing the warranty usually expects you to deal with before rust sets in otherwise the warranty is void.
