The reason that my brakes were a bit funny!!!!
I have a confession to make, I have previously posted about spongy brakes and asked for assistance in finding a remedy.
I have that fix now.
When I was putting the brakes back together, on the passenger side, I fitted the anti-rattle spring incorrectly! It was pushing the wrong way, this meant it was pushing the pads at an angle to the disc, therefore allowing them to move away from the disc. This meant that on each new application of the brakes, the pads had to be driven towards the surface of the disc before any braking effort was felt. I have now fixed the fault, and the brakes work faultlessly and much better than the old ones which were totally stuffed!
So just a little note of caution, be careful when fitting new discs/pads that the spring is correctly fitted! Do not be lured into rushing by your wife coming to tell you that lunch is getting cold etc.!!
