So, went to see this tonight...
After reading the description, studying the pictures and speaking with the owner, I was quite excited. Drove an hour and a half to see it only to be met by a thick layer of grime all over the car, hiding numerous scratches and what appeared to be flat paint in some areas. Ok, could be worse. Then the wheels, all four were bubbling quite badly. Again, can possibly live with that, quick referb will sort. Then the engine, starts fine, idles fine...then came the whine as I rev it - not sure exactly what it was but only so many things run off the engine so take your pick, probably alternator. I turned it off, handed him the keys and walked away - seemingly to his surprise!
I made it clear before hand, I'm not looking for a fixer-uper and if there was anything amiss, I'd find it. He assured me I wouldn't be disappointed as he'd been burned on a GTV with a dodgy 'box and knows how it feels etc. etc.
£52 later, I'm home, Alfa-less and bloody ****ed off
It's not the fact it had a problem it's the fact the it was so obvious a problem and he purposefully witheld the info: "there are no mechanical issues with this car".
If he lied about that, was else was he lying about...
