Your gearboxes should not whine! Could be main shaft bearing damage but in a low mileage car it is more likely to be from the differential. The diffs have preload settings adjusted in most cases with shims. If the factory have not done this correctly then the diff needs to come out and be corrcectly adjusted. Labour intensive so they will be reluctant to fix it but don't accept it as a normal Alfa thing.
It's a bit like the woman driver joke where she hears a noise and turns up the radio. There you go, "fixed innit"!
