I cant give very technical explanation. But in new, or rebuit engines, that are not bedded in properly, there comes to local overheating on very small surfaces. During the bedding period, these surfaces get polished thanks to piston moovement. The oil on these small overheating surfaces gets much hotter than by normal use. Mineral oil has a "feature" that in can overheat to very high temperature and when it cools down it has the same characteristic as before. Synthetic oil overheated to a certain temperature and cooled down looses some of its characteristics. In new engine syhetic oil might loose its general quality very soon, thats why mineral or semi-synthetic oils are recommended.
