I'm not happy with Alfenia's rear end behaviour, so much so I have booked her in to get a proper 4 wheel alignment to check the rear wheel settings too.
Today I tied a string to my tow bar & pulled it along the length of the car on the drivers side, letting it touch against the side wall of the rear tyre, using the tyre as a straight line. With respect to the rear tyre the drivers front tyre from was 2mm at it rear & 4mm at its front offset to the center of the car.....not too bad.
Doing the same on the passengers side it was 25mm & 35mm offset to the center of the car
So i decided to do my own front tracking, i opened the 2 track rod ends & adjusted them until I had 0mm & 0mm on the drivers side & 30mm + 30mm on the passengers side...... i know its not exactly correct BUT the steering does feel more what i'm used to.
From this i deduce that one or both rear tyres are *steering* in the wrong direction, ie toe'd out.
Tomorrow & €30 later i'll know for sure.
BTW I know the link rear wishbones/arms are ok as i inspected them last week...... but i cannot tell if the previous owner replace dthem & maybe not got the rear tracking correctly aligned
Any suggestions or feedback?
