I saw a small article in the 9 March 2004 Edition of Autocar showing an 'Autodelta 156 Sportwagon' at the Geneva motorshow (Autodelta Italy, not UK). Anyway, it looked superb in Alfa Red sporting some BBS CH rims and deep skirts. It apparently had a 3.5-litre 300bhp engine fitted too
Autocar said that Alfa would be making 100 for UK customers..... and I've been waiting ever since!!
As it now seems likely that they will never make one, I have no option but to build my own.
Anyone got any other idea's or suggestions??
Been there,done and got the T-Shirt,but with a 147.I have custom 8.5 x 18s fitted to my 147 Turbo.
In order to fit 8.5 x 18s then you will need to roll and slightly flare out the rear arches by 10mm on your car.Otherwize you will snag the wheels/tyres off of the arches and possibly get a blow out on the tyres. Also you need to take out the rear inner arch liners as you will catch the tyres off of them too.
The 8.5 x 18 inch size alloy wheel will have to have an offset of ET-35,otherwise that width of wheel wont sit on the car properly and the tyres will wear out much faster.I know this from my own experiences.
Tyres can be no wider than 225/35/18 profile,as the 225/40/18s will snag on the front inner arches when on full steering lock.I found out the hard way with this one.
Oh and a BBS 8.5 x 18 inch Le Mans split rim wheel is about 400 pounds sterling just for 1 alloy wheel and no tyre either. The BBS one piece alloy on that Autodelta 156 wagon is about 220-260 quid sterling for 1.
P.S - To get your 2 litre engine up near 300bhp then you are going to have to spend alot of money to do it.Getting big power from a 2 litre aint gonna be easy or cheap either. You will have to get the engine built with stronger internals and steel gaskets too.
Reboring/stroking the engine up to 2.2 or 2.4 litres or else Turbo/Supercharging the engine to get near 300bhp.Trust me.Best of luck with the car and your plans for it.
