Motor control System failure.

This messsage flshed up on dash this evening, car still runs 100% fine. Now I presume this is for the swirl flap motor?? If it is I blanked flaps a few months back and just left the motor in situ, so can I completely remove fault through diagnostics?? Or is there a way I can do it through wiring/ resistors?? Or is the fault something else??

Could be any number of things you need to read the codes to find out what has caused it - motor control failure is a generic message telling you that a monitored function is not working or out of limits

Yep mine was fit egr valve, ended up cleaning

And only then after a bit of driving did the light go out.

Start with a 1.6ohm resistor

Sounds like the crankshaft sensor. If it stops without obvious reason and restarts after a while then looks like it. The message seems to disappear and only the light remains on in some instances.
