I'd just finished shelling out a grand for repairs after my cam belt went south, when a couple of hundred miles later (100 miles from home) my revs went down to zero and I had to spend 300+ quid getting towed home.
What happened after it broke down is that when you turn the ignition to MAR and all the dashboard lights come on, the yellow engine management light doesn't, the starter motor turns over but there's no spark and no fuel flow. However, I disconnected my battery for a few weeks and when I reconnected it and turned the key to MAR the engine management light came on and the engine started and ran for 10 secs before it died again the old symptoms (no light, no start) came back.
I'm guessing a must have reset something by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it, but what? Is the ECU knackered, immobiliser? I just can't afford to give it to a dealer and let them rip me off again.
