We don't hear it often enough. So i had to pass on news of the excellent service i've recevied.
I have been using (name withheld just in case
) for servicing since day 1 of owning my 147. I was welcomed there with open arms even though i purchased my Alfa from down the road at a supermarket at vastly reduced price.
I've just come to the 48,000 mile mark and have had my service booked for some time. I had asked for them to make another check on the belts as i've read plenty of horror stories about belts going and not lasting anywhere near the 72,000 mile mark.
This morning i dropped the car off and had a chat with the service manager. The bill for the the service and belts (if changed) was likely to come to nearly £700. Couldn't really afford that in one go so i said i would drop it in next month for the belts.
He then remembered that i had had some warranty work done with them in the past (Selespeed actuator). He asked if i still had the warranty (its not with Alfa, i got it extra from car supermarket X at time of purchase). He then came up with a plan.
Tell the warranty company that the 'tensioner' was about to go and get them to replace that. Because when replacing the tensioner you have to remove all the belts!! I would then just have the parts for 3 belts - i.e. £130ish and the warranty would pick up all the labour and the tensioner belt itself.
Right result. they could very easily have not even tried to help.
Had the phone call about an hour ago giving me the good news. I'll either pick it up this evening or first thing in the morning.
Great start to the weekend!
