Howto tell it's a veloce ?

Hi, I believe this will be my first post here.
I'm interested in buying an (my first) alfa 147 1.6 TS veloce model.
As i'm going to buy the car second hand ..
I wonder if there are any ways to confirm the claims of a car beeing a veloce ? As I want to let squadra chip it up to about 130 bhp ..

Hi Goes, it seems like people are ignoring you....

Welcome to AO, and could some one help this Gentleman out, we don't have Veloce as a 147 model in the UK so I am a bit stuck.

Welcome aboard Goes. I'm quite new here so I'm sure you'll find this as adictive as I do.

As far as I know, the don't do a veloce trim on a 147. Saying that, I've always been confused by the 147 trim levels

Cheers for now,

Re: Howto tell it's a veloce ?

Oh yes , i'll try to explain it as briefly as possible.

Down here the 147 was launched with the following motor spec's.

1.6 TS 105 bhp
1.6 TS veloce 120 bhp
2.0 TS (If I wasn't in the below 25 yr insurance group I would go for this one )

and then a few variations on the 1.9 jtd 8V and one 1.9jtd 16v (wich I'm not realy interested in as I don't have to travel long distances allot)

And Marketing guys called the 1.6TS 120 bhp the veloce model..
I was just wondering where to look ( chassis nr's etc ) to make sure I'm buying a 120 bhp version of the 1.6 TS.

I'm currently browsing online second hand car sites like mad. But half of them don't even bother to list the engine spec's , and even those who do could have just looked at a 1.6 TS from a 156 and writen down 120 bhp ..

Re: Howto tell it's a veloce ?

Easiest things to spot under the bonnet to tell a 120bhp from a 105bhp are that the 120bhp version will have variable cam timing (you can see the variator solenoid just behind the oil filler cap) and it will also have the large variable intake manifold.
The 105bhp version also has solid front discs but the 120bhp version gets the same vented front discs as the rest of the range (GTA excepted).
