Glove box handle has come off

Another problem - bloody Italian technology, eh?

The silver handle has come off the glove compartment.

There does not appear to be an easy way to replace the handle as the scren comes from the other side and is on a very tight spring.

Has anyone successfully repaired this, or am I talking a dealer visit?....

Re: Glove box handle has come off

My Glove box lid was replaced under warranty due to it rattling.
I belive that others have fixed the problem as there are a couple of 'hidden' screws. Whether yours can be fixed I do not know.

Re: Glove box handle has come off

stori is right, there are 2 hidden screws which require the whole damn glovebox door being replaced.

mine was coming loose and the whole door was replaced under warranty.

Re: Glove box handle has come off

There is actually a single torx drive screw at the back of the chrome handle. This is the screw that tends to work loose. On mine it happened during the third year dealer warranty so they wouldnt replace the glove box lid.

As your handle has come off completely replacing it will probably be more difficult, but is worth a try if you dont want the expense of a new glove box door. (I'm assuming your car is out of warranty).

I've only had to re-tighten the screw but I think the problem will be wedging open the flap that the chrome handle fixes to such that you can access the back to tighten the screw. You might find it easier to remove the glove box lid completely to do this.

To tighten the screw you will need a torx key as shown here.

Also read the earlier threads - they should also help. (Glovebox lever falling off soon!!!)
