Ecu faults?...weird happenings

"Motor Control System Failure...Go To Dealer" still starts and drives. Engine management light goes out after a day or so. Then car engine just stops WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS OR MANAGEMENT LIGHT. Starts after a short rest (!) and then this sequence repeats at various intervals. Any ideas of fault please, pending trip to a 'doctor' where I won't get ripped off/taken for a ride. Many thanks.
Also, what is source please of sensible home diagnostics: seen suggested I can download 'multiecscan' but from which site?

If it is cutting out when warm, then restarting after 10 - 15 minutes, almost certainly the ever-popular crank sensor failure - quick and cheap fix, and about 10K threads about it on here......

Download multiscan from

And either contact Rarebear on here for one of his modified cables or buy a set of these:

It does sound like the crank sensor to me though...
