just bought 156 2.0 selespeed ...
Hello All Alfa owners ;-)
I've just paid a deposit for a great 2000 W-reg 156 2.0 selespeed Alfa. Sports leather interior, climat control and lods of options.
After testdriving it for 30 minutes me and my mate decided to buy the car. The engine noise, oh my god, so nice!!!! So here I am an alfa newbe.
It had a few issues thought, with air conditioning. The dealer told me that it will be fixed, car will be MOT'd, serviced and tested by mechanic for other faults. So i hope the car will be in great condition when i'll pick it up from the dealer on Friday. Can't wait!
I've also noticed a strange and rather apperant skweeking noise. Initially i thought that i was coming from brakes (it sounded just like brakes). However it was definately not the brakes, as the noise was appearing at low speeds 10-30 mph and the noise dissapeared during braking. Does anyone know what might be the reason for it? The car arrived at the dealer's place a week ago, so it is not like it has been outside under the rain for months.
The dealer will sort out noise and the aircon issue and i'll drive it again before bying it.
Reading this forum i've read about the known variator and front wheel arm issues. I've checked for those and didn't find any issues. The alfa is registered in the end of June 2000, so the variator issue shouldn't not be present as it effects the cards prior to April 2000.
Is there any other issues I should look for before leaving the dealer?
Many thanks for any suggestions/tips
