Car overheating but fan wont kick in
So, there I am driving along to work in my 2003 2.0 JTS, all happy and cheerful, when I see the temp gauge slowly and steadily climb past 90, and touching upon 110°. oh-oh.
Immediately I pull out of the traffic (into the bus lane ahem.. ) pull into the next available car park, and I get to spend the next 20 minutes waiting for the car to get cold again. 30 minutes late for work.
The fan works (tested with AlfaDiag two days ago) but it will not kick in when the temperature gauge exceeds 90°.
Is there a sensor that needs to be looked at ?
The thermostat (which is iffy, and takes ages to heat up and never reaches 70-90° as it should) should not prevent the fan from kicking it, should it ?
