156 2.4jtd HELP!!!!!!!!!!
i bought an alfa romeo 156 in january, and ever since i've had it it feels underpowered. who ever had the car before me, has cut the air intake U bend in half and stuck a silly cone filter on, which now im stuck with and refuse to pay £75 for a plastic pipe.
Anyways, i got a new one of these silly cone filters, and hooked it all back up, nice whoosh sound from the turbo, but the turbo dont seem to kick in till about 3000 rpm. (i have 7000rpm on the gage, think the person before me stuck petrol clocks in)
I've tried to move the filter away from the centre of the engine, no joy, but when i disconnected the MAF sensor, i have masses of power. little poof of black smoke on hard acceleration. but it pulls like a train. can anyone please explain why this is and what do i need to do to fix, so that the MAF is connected up.
Also when the turbo does kick in i hear a humming sound, something like blowing over the top of a bottle, prob a second or two. then go's, always turns up right after the turbo kicks in???
All advice is welcome and very gr8ful.
