HELP! Water leak - odd rubber plug/cap on TS near cam cover?
Urgently looking for some help on a water leak on my GTV 2.0 TS from what looks like a rubber grommet/cap off the coolant system on the front of the engine block by the cam belt cover. Not had the car long and it suddenly started to get hot, pulled over and let it cool down, put some water in it and all seemed ok, no water in the oil, didn't seem to have a leak and thought it may have been an odd water lock, thermo stuck or something similar. Heater working and blowing warm so thought all was well but in the coming days it kept using water and getting hot (rising over 90) but using the blowers I could keep it cool (often dropping away to 50 - 60) and limp home (lucky it was sunny and could drive windows open and heater on full blast). Had another look and could see some water spitting from what looks like a rubber grommet (held on by a jubilee clip) which looks like it is capping off a pipe from the engine coolant block just next to the timing belt cover. Not sure if this is standard or if something has been removed and this is a DIY job or a standard cap and/or bleed point? Have uploaded a pic and would really appreciate if someone in the know could have a quick look and tell me what it is, could be a DIY bodge job, normal cap off or a standard part? It is clearly split after the clip and now looses water pretty fast. I travel daily for work and need the car 7 days atm and in deep trouble if I can't sort it and fast. Your input/comments would really be appreciated - don't think it has blown a head gasket or water pump issues but not going to know for sure until this plug/bung/grommet split is resolved. Many thanks peeps..
