Im have been blown away by the help and generosity ive seen on the forum! but i have booked a local Mobile mechanic to come out on Thursday.
I know its not the best thing but i have to go to work, and with my back its nearly impossible. Ive had a few freinds come and have a look, but they get scared when they see the work so far! One stayed quite a while and even after reading this thread he thought it would be best to strip the caliper etc off!
I will admit we did try to do this by digging out a 36mm Socket (which was a job in itself) however the nut will not move even with a meter long breaker bar and all of my weight on it!
I told the mobile mech what i have done, and what needs to be done and he has quoted £80-£100 (so not far from what you said Grahameo)
I will admit at the time i hadnt considered asking if he had worked on an Alfa before.
Hopefully I will get it done! But it is a shame as the car will be going back into the garage once its done, as i still dont have the money to insure it (after owning it since january). I am considering selling it as im not sure whether i can afford/justify for 4 new tyres and tax and insurance. I may fix her up sell her on and perhaps look at getting a 2.0 TS GTV.
All things considered i bought it for £400 spent a fair amount (almost £700) trying to fix it up, so it would be a shame to then to sell it on without truely experiencing the car (ive driven it for 4 miles back from the MoT centre) but if i am honest back in january i wanted to buy it to fix up and then sell on.
That wasnt the smartest of decisions and then i caught the "Alfa Bug" and decided to keep it for longer. But now it would appear the car is trying to kill me
