Alfa 156 JTD 20v sump...

Hi guys. Just wondering if any of you have been unfortunate enough to have your 156 hit any speed bumps???

I have my model in Veloce trim, and it looks close to the ground as it probably should as I know the Veloce models have slightly lower suspension anyway. Especially compared to my missus 147 Lusso!!!

Thing is, should my sump be actually scraping the speed humps? The bottom of the sump is so well scraped, that even the sump plug has a totally flat edge. I have just purchased another one, and am having it fitted today. But I don't want to go through this again.

As it is, I am slow over the nasty humps at the best of times, but might I have a suspension problem? Surely, being as low as it's meant to be, it should clear humps anyway? Or have I really got front suspension issues?

Cheers in advance guys!

Mine is the same spec car as yours and I completed smashed my old undertray with repeated scraps and bangs against speed bumps and sometimes even dips in some roads.

Anyway turned out that front shockers were worn and were making the situation worse. Had them done and things are better now, its still low but dont have as many issues as before.....

All 156 need to go VERY slowly over speed bumps and the heavy 20v JTD is the worst of all.

I take it you don't have an undertray either.... If you did, you'd at least get some warning that you are getting close before you actually scrape something important.
