depends what has failed is it swirl flaps or the switch that operates them .If the switch is ok you can blank them off no problem .If switch is nakered a new one is 250 or so it needs to operate properly .As it opens the flaps via the connecting bar everthing works ok if its not working it will trigger the engine light and put the car in limp mode .You need to assess what your problem is .When mine went the switch burnt out so i had the Inlet and switch replaced total cost from a garage was 600 or so

Alfa GT JTDm

I am having issues with my GT and might be swirl flap issue. Car is with a reputable alfa specialist and I am popping in tomorrow. I have emailed the link to myself and I will show the chap tomorrow and ask him what he says!

If you look the inlet is cracked, makes you wonder if pressing the bush in broke it

After having our gt eat two swirl flaps and having to have a top end rebuild at 65K I removed the remaining swirl flaps and can say that there is no noticeable difference in my honest opinion, I was told that there might be some hesitation low down but If there is you won't notice it although she has been remapped I
