Hmmm EGR - more power?!?!?

So, had a bit of a torrid day:

1) door handle cable (?) broke - in another thread and will take a look this weekend;

2) EGR failure caused light - been having symptoms over past week and had bought new restrictor plate and gasket for fitting this weekend but did it tonight - went out for a test drive and cor blimey the car appears to have more low down power!?!?! well, not more low down power just no hesitation - seems to come on sooner!?!? Can a simple clean and fit of a restrictor plate do this or is it a placebo effect?!?!?!

Blanking the EGR does give you more low down power, yes.

Not just in your head

+1 I had mine blanked off then after a while I had it removed from the ECU so it stays closed and it does give more down low power and makes it more drivable

If the ERG is not working properly i.e. open all the time then you do loose low down power and a restrictor or blanking plate will return the power because it shuts off the flow through the ERG. If the ERG is working properly it will make very little difference.
